Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day!

Today is the 26th Annual Indigenous Peoples Day, a day which Canada recognizes the contributions of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit people who have contributed to our country. June 21 is significant to many Indigenous cultures as it is the longest day of the year, the summer solstice. Although these groups share many similarities, they each have their own distinct heritage, language, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs. Family Centre’s Collective Community Cookbook is a great way for people to share their love of food and their food of love.

Support this project by contributing a recipe (submissions close February 20th), purchasing a digital or physical copy of the cookbook (to be published in the spring, TBA), participating in Family Centre’s livestream cooking event (scheduled for April; TBA), and keeping up to date with the project on IME’s social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn).

WINNER of the Fundraising event!

Over the past semester, each team was to come up with a fundraising event and present it to the family centre.

The winners have been announced. Congrats to Team IME in Lethbridge with the Collective Cookbook, consisting of Matt Fisher, Zandria Bates, Taylor Doyle and Sydney Norrie.

We are so excited to share with you the end result of this project as we will all be working on it together to ensure that it is a success.
